5th Annual Pink and White Affair

Once again, Cleveland showed out with big support for the 5th annual Pink and White affair/Shaye's birthnite bash. Island delight was wall to wall pink and white from the decor to all the ladies and fellas dressed in pink and white. This bash went well into the early morning hours to the sounds of YHP, Star Temple Powersquad and Columbus Roots High Power.
CBC entered the bash at about 2am, the party was already packed and in full blast. Sounds of PowerSquad filled the dance as the sea of people dressed in pink and white continued to enter the place. We could tell this dance was going to go long!
The floor to ceiling décor of the bash help partygoers get into the 'pink and white' mood.. The room was full of balloons along with walls and ceilings coordinated with the theme of the night. Guests were also treated to chocolate covered strawberries from guest of honor, Shaye.
Speaking of Shaye, the birthday girl rocked a ultra cute white satin detailed jacket with pops of hot pink tulle. As always, Shaye took her outfit to the next (fashionable) level with a wide belt and white leather wedge heel ankle boots. Everyone stepped it up keeping with the theme; the fellas rocked pink blazers, vest and of course ties, while the ladies worked it out with pink and white dresses, suits and everything in between. We even spotted some pink eyelashes in the place.
As with any big dance, it would be easier to list who missed this bash. In the place celebrating Craigtown Girls, Untouchable Crew, Dainty Sharon, Rich and Nah Talk, Bashment Crew, Mally Barbie, Organik Sound Leisa Engel and DJ Chubby, YHP Superdee and Rahima, KC platinum, promoting his Black and White Affair, Lady Spyda, Trini, KiKi Tight, Summer Body Sue Que, New horizon, Camille Eva Ready and a host of others. (I am sure there were alot more people in the crowd, but it was a little darker than usual).
No matter how much planning, sometimes there are things the promoter just CANNOT control..
The party took a slight turn as random patrons began to take over the mike with the usual rants. Soon, it became another chapter added to the latest drama of surrounding some of Cleveland's Reggae Dj's and Sounds.
Sadly, what some fail to realize, the act of continuously stopping the music to air your dirty laundry, KILLS the vibes of the party. Remember, people come out to have a good time and LEAVE THE DRAMA AT HOME. Reading the faces of many partygoers told the same story, what is going on in here? (That was the clean version)
Not to mention we had visitors from Columbus...great.
Trust, we all know the usual banter that happens at a dance, but damn! No one likes a dj that talks too much on the mike but then they stop the song on top of it? Wow! Imagine this ?teasing' on and off for over 30 minutes - frustrating, right? 4am is the peak of the most dances, the time when everyone is going crazy; dancing, shoes coming off, sweating out hair, doing their thing.
Having fun, remember?
On behalf of all the people who bought a new outfit (and shoes) got their hair and nails done, found a baby sitter (on Valentine's weekend, no less), burned gas (@3.19/gallon), walked through snow in their 'good' shoes and most importantly PAID to enjoy this dance, as a DJ/Sound/random person, before you decide to grab the mic, please consider your audience and speak through music, perhaps with a few tunes or some new dub plates. We all could use a good impromptu clash every now and then. Trust me and then everyone would be happy, and you have used your talent to prove your point.
But, I digress..
All in all, XXX pulled off another great annual event as the people party was past 5am. Big up Shaye, Tommy, Patrick and Ryan for pulling Island Delight together to looks its (pink and white) best.
