Yes, It's True! Dailey's Blue Mountain is SHUT DOWN!!
"Come NOW!!!They (are) boarding up Dailey's!"
That was the call CBC received at about 7:30 pm on Friday, July 16th.
Almost in an instant, the crowd grew as many patrons, well wishers and the curious alike gathered in front of the historical storefront. The place usually known for celebrations and its Caribbean cultural connection was on this night full of Cleveland Police, CountyOfficials and other authorities gathered to aid in the closing.
Patrons and the officials alike remained calm and peaceful as many Dailey's supporters asked questions regarding the process. New Horizon and others were also on hand removing equipment from the venue as the CPD prohibited further entry to the premises during the shut down.
As the hugs and mixed emotions flowed, you can spot many people - cell phone in tow, explaining, informing and confirming the news. CBC received calls from Alabama, Chicago and as far as Houston, all asking the same question, "Is it true?" and "Why?"
...now, that is the question.
The speculations can vary and asking 10 different people can get you 10 different answers but, the result is the same. After 30 + years, Dailey's Blue Mountain Inn, the Mecca for the Caribbean Community was shut down, boarded up - closed. Some recall this wasn't the first time Dailey's was shut down and vowed its soon return.
Chat 'Bout Cleveland asks its readers for their support, thoughts and prayers for Mr. Albert Dailey and his family during this difficult time. Dailey's patrons and supporters are certain this situation will be temporary at best.
