When my girl Brownin' from Detroit announced this dance way back in November, I knew I couldn't miss this year. As long as the weather stayed calm, it was all about Brownin' Tall Inna Sexy Boots as Chat 'Bout Cleveland traveled north once again to check out this bash.
Chat 'Bout tipped (remember, TALL BOOTS) into the Victory One Social Club at a very early 1am. Like Cleveland, Detroit people party late. There were a few partygoers in the place, but Infinity Sounds kept an early warm for the dance. In a dancehall blink of an eye, by about 1:30, the dance soon filled up as Infiniti Sounds blazed the dance with a host of older dancehall classics and culture tunes.
All these ladies in the place came theme ready with their tall boots paired with pum pum shorts, leggings, mini dresses and everything in between. The higher than usual heels didn't stop these dancehall divas from walking out on the dancefloor. The Detroit people did their thing all night, loving the video light, courtesy of Cleveland's own G Man in the place capturing all the action.
Keeping up with the great vibes, local performing artist, Lisa B gave a great performance with tunes like, "Whine, Whine". It was so amazing to see how the crowd in Detroit responded to this local artist. Take note Cleveland! The people showed much love to Lisa B throughout her entire performance as she kept the party vibes moving and ended her set by singing "Happy Birthday" to guest Ricky Trooper.
Soon, Ricky Trooper, AKA Serial Killer took over the tunes and blessed the crowd with some roots and culture tunes including Luciano and Sizzla. The crowd was on the brink of niceness as Trooper buss out 1950's tunes such as "Rock Around the Clock" and "Hound Dog". The crowd obliged with the fellas and the ladies doing the twist all around the dance.
Following up that niceness was a few 80's favs such as "Like a Virgin" by Madonna, Stevie Wonder's "Part Time Lover", Gloria Gaynor's "I Will Survive" and "Rock Me (Tonight)" by Freddie Jackson - which he dedicated to the fellas. The party kept moving not missing as people kept moving and singing along to all the tunes. Ricky Trooper even buss a few Ska tunes, moving even more to the dance floor and bringing the dance to yet another party level with more horns blowing and towels waving throughout the place.
Niccceeeee!!!!
In the place supporting Brownin's bash was Suga from Reggae Gurlz Entertainment, Jamaican Lady AKA Sharon, Glamour Girls, Baby Picture Crew, local artist Channel, Glamour Girls, and a few of my Facebook friends, including Sexy Rush, Tischel and Khristine.
As the party vibes grew (and boots came off), Trooper began to play some newer dancehall favs by Vybz Kartel, Movado, Charly Black and Bugle, bringing the place to a frenzy as Detroit's dancehall divas and dons hit the dancefloor bussing the latest dance, 'Skip to my Lou'.
Soon, the bash rose to a white hot level and Infinity took over the tunes with some new dubplates by Vybz Kartel and Bounty Killa. The crowd smelled a clash in the air as Infiniti Sounds and Ricky Trooper did not disappoint. After much banter between the sounds, Detroit's Infinity Sound played a few new dubplates to the crowds approval and soon' called out' the guest DJ for some new Bounty Killa tunes. Living up to his name as the ?Serial Killa', Trooper unleashed a spankin' new tunes from Bounty Killa, bringin' the crowd to its knees.
By the time the dust settled, it was well past 3am as Sexy Rush was dubbed winner of the ?Sexiest Lady in the Boots' contest and the champagne began flowing in the place. Chat 'Bout (slowly) tipped out of the dance while the party was still in full blast..
Big up Infinity Sounds and Ricky Trooper for blazing up the dance with some great tunes and great vibes that kept the party going well past 5am. Much love to my girl Brownin' for yet another great event which was truly enjoyed by all.
