 3rd Annual Soca/Calypso Flag Party 3.17.09

Caribbean Groove Promotions

Presents:

3rd Annual Soca/Calypso Flag Party

Caribbean Flavor

3.17.09

...Reminiscent of the days of Caribana and Carnivale, CGP's Flag Party was a great event!  Can't wait until NEXT year!

It was all about pride and patriotism as CGP presented the 3rd annual Soca/Calypso Flag Party at Caribbean Flavor.  Trinidad, St. Lucia, Ethiopia, Grenada, and of course, Jamaica were in the place representing at this much anticipated bash.  Chat 'Bout even spotted flags from Cuba, Ghana and the USA in the crowd as well.  This party was a welcome change for true Soca/ Calypso fans as they enjoyed the tunes and danced the night away to about 3am.

Wall-to-wall flags hanging throughout the place greeted patrons throughout the place.  The parking lot meter read medium as Chat 'Bout reached Flavor at about midnight, but the party vibes were thick as the Soca/Calypso tunes had partygoers dancing from the bar to the patio and to the dance floor.  By 1am, in almost an instant, the dance was rammed packed as the party moved into full madness mode; people feelin' the vibe and having a great time!  (Trust, if you like Soca or not, the tunes would have had you out your seat!)

As the crowd grew, Organik Sound Leisa Engel informed the masses:  "This is a SOCA/CALYPSO party, so that is what you are going to hear!"

Ha, no worries!  The crowd kept moving as DJ Chubby supplied hype tune after tune that kept the towels and flags waving in the air.  It was so good to see people enjoying a different type of dance; it was a great mix of people combined with a great mix of tunes!

Soon, DJ Chubby blessed the crowd with a few familiar dancehall favs, including ?Welcome to JamRock' (how apropos) and ?No, No, No', followed by a few crowd favs including, ?So Special', ?Pickney Nah Hold ya Down' and ?Nuh Linga'.  Just as the crowd was ready to keep twirlin' and whinin' to more Soca/Calypso, keepin' up with the time, Chubby takes the dance to yet another level of hypeness with a few daggerin' tunes!  The crowd went wild to the hot tunes including 'Bend Ova' (love it!).  Feeling the music and the vibes, Blaze Crew, Red Light Lady Trini and Ms. Trini took over the stage.

Organik Sound Leisa (to crowd): "Don't know what Daggerin' is?  Ask ya man to tell ya!"

Yeow!!!

Crowd standouts representin' were Ms. Trini (see backshot photo), with outfit #1 and #2, Blaze Crew displayin' JA pride and Chat ?Bout See-shellz in the place, spreading the love with flags from both USA and Jamaica.  Big up to the crew from Grenada, waving their huge flag all night long!

Also in the place feeing the Soca/Calypso vibes were WCSB Jomo Benn, SIlk of Soundtonic, Punkie and Nunkie, Village Crew, New Horizon Fam, Doe Doe, Coolie, Summer Body Suzy and Stacey, CGP CEO, Ajoy, Ms. Cutie Cute Ocie - recovering from her birthnite bash and Lady Pam.

Once again, the party was a huge success as CGP can look forward to an even bigger and better turn out for 2K10.  Rest up Cleveland!  If the dances of April are a sign of things to come for summer '09, you are going to need it!

Missed it again??!!!  Here are some pics from the event!
